Unusual Chain Saw collection at the Fair

By david - Posted on 01 February 2010

Londonderry's Phil Cassels will be presenting and demonstrating his collection of chain saws and cross cut saws at the Highlands Steam & Vintage Fair.

These chain saws and cross cut saws are quite rare and Phil will be skilfully showing just how practical these fine old tools were.

Rare Rally Badges available

By david - Posted on 01 February 2010

The management team of the Highlands Steam & Vintage Fair have minted a few very rare rally badges for the 2010 event.

The badges were sought after and had been sold before we could advertise them.

Circumstances have made two of those badges available. Numbers 1 of 5 and 2 of  5 are for sale at $50.00 each.
Each comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and is substantially different to our rally badges and the limited edition version.

If you collect badges and want something that's different and an extremely limited minting, then these are definitely for you.

Contact the Rally Organiser for further information.

Rotary Club of Oberon to cater Community BBQ

By david - Posted on 28 January 2010

What's a Fair without a Community BBQ?

The Rotary Club of Oberon will be catering the Community BBQ at the rally grounds from 5.00PM on Friday 19th February 2010.

The BBQ will celebrate the start of the Oberon & Villages Summer Festival. Come and learn a little more about Oberon's six weeks of fun!

Entrants and visitors as well as Oberon locals will be welcomed with a hearty sausage sizzle and a cooling ale can be obtained from the Leagues Club adjacent.

This is a fund raising activity by Rotary and the funds support the projects for which Rotary is reknowned. Come along and support the BBQ and meet the locals; you won't be disappointed.

Rotary will also be providing breakfast at the grounds on Saturday and Sunday mornings for entrants and early starters.

Additional Judging Class announced for Bathurst Toyota Show'N'Shine

By david - Posted on 24 January 2010

To add more interest to the Bathurst Toyota Show'N'Shine, the management team of the Fair has decided to add a new section to the judging.

The class will be for "Best Combination"

That means that you can display a combination of any type of machinery for judging that are attached to each other.
For example, truck and tractor or car and caravan or tractor and farm machinery, in fact any thing at all that might be an interesting combination.

It still means that the individual pieces will also be judged individually in their respective classes so your combination can be a mixture of original ( unrestored or as found) and restored.

Please note your entries that you would like to be judged in this class as well as individually when forwarding them to the team.

The idea is a late inclusion and has been added at the request of a couple of entrants.

As with all the classes the judging will be based on what catches the judges eye and is not meant to be  concours judging.

Think about entering this new class for fun!

See the Grand Rally on Saturday 20th February from 10.00 AM

By david - Posted on 16 January 2010

You haven't seen a parade until you've seen the Highlands Steam & Vintage Fair Grand Rally in Oberon's main street.

The Rally gets underway  around 10.00 AM on Saturday morning 20th February 2010 and proceeds along Oberon Street.

See a quaint country town transformed back in time to the middle of the last century when we were all kids and times were good.

Just imagine the fire and steam issuing from  a grand old traction engine passing within feet of your vantage point; or seeing a vehicle similar to the one in which you learned to drive.

What about a classic farm tractor pulling a piece of  machinery that your Grandfather may have used on the family farm.

How about classic trucks or does the rally of military vehicles grab your attention

Or does the sound of not one, but two Highland Pipe Bands raise the hairs on your neck with great renditions of traditional Scottish tunes as they pass you by during the Rally.

Simply pick a spot anywhere along Oberon's main street and watch the Rally unfold.

For colour, excitement, spectacle and fun, nothing beats Oberon's Grand Rally.

Be There!

"Tent City" will not now be available to Visitors

By david - Posted on 05 January 2010

Unfortunately, our offer of  "Tent City" style of luxury accomodation has lapsed . The management team was unable to attract sufficient campers to meet the minimum requirement.

Should you find that accommodation of the type that suits your budget is fully booked in Oberon, then we suggest you book in either Bathurst or Lithgow, NSW.

Both cities offer a wide range of accommodation and both are within a short drive of Oberon.

However, before doing so, please consult  www.oberonaustralia.com.au to ensure you have checked the full range of accommodation options available here in Oberon.
