The grounds are superb for the event because of their locality, great conditions and facilities.

Orange reports on the 2010 Fair

By david - Posted on 11 March 2010

Noted in the Orange District Antique Motor Club Inc magazine:

"Spent the weekend of 19-21st at Oberon Steam Festival, great weather, big crowds both days.

Over 230 entrants had booked in by Sat morning.

The new venue was a great success, plenty of space, good facilities, security and well organised, a big THANK YOU to the people of Oberon in making this event such a winner, from the crane operator to the ticket collectors, all volunteers went out of their way to help.

Good to see lots of Orange people. K. Bowyer and B McNeill entered vehicles.

Bob"

2011 Fair dates coming soon

By david - Posted on 10 March 2010

The dates for the 2011 Highlands Steam & Vintage Fair will be set shortly.

We are currently involved in consultations with Oberon's stakeholders in the Summer Festival.

One thing is certain, the 2011 Fair will be refreshingly different with heritage features to again capture your imagination.

Local groups share the spoils

By david - Posted on 07 March 2010

The 2010 Highlands Steam & Vintage Fair would not have the the fantastic success that it was without the assistance of local groups and associations.

The Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway group presented its first major display in association with the Fair.

The members of Oberon Men's Shed gave freely of their time to assist with the many tasks required to successfully run the Fair.

Both groups shared in the success of the weekend. The Railway association will use their funds to assist in getting a train running on the historic Oberon Branch line.

Oberon Men's Shed will use their donation in the implementation of various activities it conducts for the men of the village of Oberon.

All  volunteers received a bundle of goodies including a 2010 rally badge and a certificate of appreciation.

This is one way that the Highlands Steam & Vintage Fair shares its success with the community.

Congratulations!

By david - Posted on 07 March 2010

A very large crowd of visitors attended the Highlands Steam & Vintage Fair in February 2010.

Amongst them were Gavin & Kim Rea who write:

" Congratulations on a great event, we visited the rally grounds twice, and the street parade and really enjoyed ourselves looking at the machinery and talking with people.

The event was well laid out, and was blessed with good weather and appeared very (well) attended.

I hope all the participants enjoyed themselves.

Once again well done, Oberon should be proud."

Hunter Valley Vintage Farm Machinery Club reviews the Fair

By david - Posted on 04 March 2010

The first review of the 2010 Highlands Steam & Vintage Fair has come in from the Hunter Valley Vintage Farm Machinery Club.

"The Oberon rally was held over the weekend 20th and 21st and was a very good rally. Plenty of restored cars, trucks, tractors, farm machinery, army equipment and quite a good display of old engines not to mention the two portable steam engines and the four steam traction engines.

The camping area was good with all facilities and the Oberon Leagues club looked after us  bit too good.

The only contentious issue was the five dollars administration fee which we all object to however to their credit the money was well spent in providing good facilities plus an extra ticket for a partner, free access to the local rail museum and free bus travel to other venues in town; also a rally badge.

All in all a very good rally and well worth attending next year. From our club we had Cam Grundy, Bob Bright and Russell Bright.

Regards,
Russell Bright"

By david - Posted on 23 February 2010

The management team of the Highlands Steam & Vintage Fair is very appreciative of all entrants and visitors who attended the Fair during 19th 20th 21st February 2010.

In a year of economic hardship for many it was wonderful that visitors and enthusiasts would travel to Oberon at considerable personal expense to be part of the premier heritage event in New South Wales.

We would encourage anybody who attended to send us feedback on the event. You can email us via the "contact us" page of this site or fax on 6336-5331.

Your comments are valuable and will help us to present an even better event in 2011
